ETTLV 102 - Catholic Program To The Holyland 7 Days / 6 Nights
Day 1 - Arrival Day – Tel Aviv At Leisure
Arrival at Ben Gurion Airport. You will be met by a VERED representative and assisted through customs. Transfer to your hotel in Tel Aviv for rest and breakfast. Rest of the day at leisure. Dinner and overnight in your hotel in Tel Aviv.
Day 2 - Tel Aviv, Jaffa, Caesarea, Muhraka, Mt. Tabor, Nazareth, Tiberias
After breakfast view the Metropolitan city of Tel Aviv and visit JAFFA. Continue along the coastal road to CAESAREA an ancient Mediterranean city containing many ruins most of which date from the Crusader period. Prominent among these are the hippodrome, the Crusader city and the Roman amphitheater. Continue to MUHRAKA with a breathtaking view of the north of Israel. Here Elijah confronted and defeated the Priests of Baal. Continue to NAZARETH an Arab city in the Galilee with many Churches and Monasteries, where Jesus grew to manhood. Continue to Cana the site of the first Miracle. Proceed to MT. TABOR. Ascend to the summit . Check into hotel in Tiberias for dinner and overnight.
Day 3 -Mt. Of Beatitudes, Banias ,Capernaum, Boat Ride, Jordan River (Yardenit)
After breakfast drive to MT. OF BEATITUDES where Jesus preached the Sermon on the Mount. On to BANIAS one of the main sources of the Jordan River. Philip son of Herod established here the city by the name of Caesarea Philippi. Take a BOAT RIDE on the Sea of Galilee with time for prayer and reflection. Visit CAPERNAUM on the northwest shore of the sea of Galilee were Jesus began his preaching career. Drive to YARDENIT where the Jordan River flows into the Sea of Galilee, traditional baptism site. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 4 - Jericho, Qumran, Dead Sea, Jerusalem
After breakfast drive to JERICHO a flourishing oasis in the Judean Desert. Ascend to Mt. of Temptation by Cable Car. On to QUMRAN remains of a settlement on the northwest shore of the Dead Sea and the site of the Qumran Caves where the Dead Sea Scrolls were discovered by desert Bedouins. Travel to the DEAD SEA called the "Sea of Salt" which is the lowest spot on the surface of the globe. Here you can experience floating and swimming in these waters which have amazing healing powers. Drive to Jerusalem and check into hotel in Jerusalem for dinner and overnight.
Day 5 - Old City Of Jerusalem
Enter old city and walk along the VIA DOLOROSA also called the Way of the Cross. There are 14 Stations along the route each commemorating an event along Jesus' route to crucifixion. Visit the Church of the Holy Sepulchre - Walk through colorful bazaars. View the TEMPLE MOUNT in the southeast corner of the Old City. Visit the WESTERN WALL part of the western retaining wall of the Temple Mount. Continue to the CARDO the main street of the ancient Jewish Quarter of the old City which has recently been fully excavated and restored and shops and galleries have opened along the street. Visit MOUNT ZION and the hall of the Last Supper and King David's Tomb. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 6 - New City Of Jerusalem And Bethlehem
Drive up MOUNT OF OLIVES - a mountain to the east of the Old City . Christian tradition maintains that many events related to the life of Jesus took place on the mountain. Visit YAD VASHEM Holocaust memorial. Drive to BETHLEHEM the site of the tomb of Rachel and the birthplace of Jesus. The town is dominated by the Church of the Nativity, built on the grotto where Jesus was born. It has many other sites of great historical and religious interest. Return to hotel for dinner and overnight.
Day 7 - Departure
Breakfast in the hotel. Check out at about 11:00 and free at leisure.
In the evening you will be transferred to Ben Gurion Airport and a VERED representative will help you through your formalities. Departure flight.
Nationals of the following countries can secure visa on arrival. The charge is USD 20.00. It will take about ten minutes on average to secure the visa on arrival. Nationals of countries not listed above must acquire a visa from their country of origin at the Ethiopian Embassy or diplomatic mission to avoid delay of entry or deportation.
All domestic flights are operated by Ethiopian Airlines with Bombardier-Q400 aircraft.
Flights are scheduled daily to the following destinations: Bahar Dar, Gondar, Lalibela, Axum and Addis Ababa.
