Ethiopian Airlines defines Unaccompanied Minors as children aged 5 to 11 years (inclusive) who are traveling alone, whether on Ethiopian-operated or other airline flights.
Passengers aged 12 to 17 years may also be treated as unaccompanied minors if special attention is requested by their parents or guardians.
Please refer to the Unaccompanied Minors Service and Escort Fees Table below for detailed charges.
Important Note:
Parents/guardians are responsible for completing the unaccompanied minor travel formalities required by the other airline involved in connecting or onward sectors.
United Airlines Policy:
United Airlines does not provide unaccompanied minor service for flights connecting to or from other airlines. Please visit the United Airlines website for more details.
Before ticket issuance, a completed Unaccompanied Minor Form must be submitted. This form must include complete addresses and contact details for all responsible individuals at the origin, transfer points (if any), and final destination.
If a parent or guardian cannot arrange for a child to be received at a transfer point and no escort has been requested, Ethiopian Airlines may assist in appointing a temporary custodian—only for minors aged 12 years and above. However, the airline does not assume liability for such arrangements.

You can make a booking for up to three infants (ages 0–23 months) without a seat. However, each infant must be accompanied by an adult passenger.
An infant ticket costs 10% of the adult's ticket fare. An infant does not have his/her own seat onboard.
If you would like to purchase a seat for your infant (a child under 2 years of age), please contact our global contact centre. The ticket price will then be charged according to the child fare with discount.
For flights to and from Canada: one adult may travel with only one infant. If traveling with more than one infant, another paying adult or escort must accompany the additional infant(s).
For all other flights: passengers may travel with up to two infants, provided the applicable child fare is paid for any occupied seats.
Passengers travelling with an infant are able to select a bassinet seat with charge on a first-come, first-served basis.
The baby should be under 11 kg in weight and 67 cm in length.
For more information please contact Ethiopian Airlines’ call centre or your local office.
Infants may travel seated on the lap of their parent or guardian.
