EHKS-001 - Ethiopian Historic Kenya Safari (14 Night /15 Days)

Day 1 – Addis Ababa - Arrive in Addis Ababa, the capital city, in early evening/morning. Take a brief ride to our hotel and enjoy a welcome ceremony. Overnight at selected Hotel. A city tour may be arranged in the afternoon for morning arrivals in the afternoon.

Day 2 – Addis Ababa - Get ready for the grand city tour of Addis Ababa, as we visit The National Museum. Then drive to Entoto hills to get the panoramic view of the city. Then on to St. Mary’s Church and Museum, a century old Church. After lunch, we visit the ‘Mercato’ - the biggest open air market in the African continent. Dinner and Overnight at select Hotel.

Day 3 - Bahar Dar - Take an hour flight to Bahir Dar. After check-in at the Tana Hotel, where we will spend overnight, we drive to Tisissat to take in the spectacular waterfall, known ‘Tis Isat’ ‘‘smoke of the Nile”. We explore all the scenic vantage points along the way to the base of the fall as we take a short boat trip across the Blue Nile River before heading back to Bahir Dar for late lunch. In the afternoon we boat across Lake Tana and visit the Church of UraKidanemihret and Mehal Zege Georgis.

Day 4 – Gondar - Morning drive to Gondar, the 17th Century capital of Ethiopia and begin the tour from the castle compound (UNESCO WHS), view the King Fasiledes Bath, then to the Goha Hotel for lunch. We enjoy afternoon visits of the Debre Birhan Selassie (the light of Trinity Church) adorned with magnificent murals, the Qusqam Church and Mentwab Palace. Dinner & Overnight at Goha Hotel.

Day 5 - Lalibela - Short flight to Lalibela and transfer to Roha Hotel. We start with a tour of the cluster of the first group church, churches including the famous church of St. George - carved like a cross out of the red volcanic rock. Lunch at the hotel, and then tour the second cluster of the amazing rock hewn churches and other UNESCO World Heritage sites – that will surly amaze us. Dinner and overnight at Yemerha Hotel.

Day 6 – Axum - Fly to Axum, a town steeped in more than 2,500 years of history. From the palace and tomb of King Kaleb (6th century AD),  visit the extraordinarily Stella’s Field (WHS site) and Tomb of King Remhay (1st to 4th Century AD) followed by the trip to the Church of St Mary of Tsion (17th century AD as the present church) - the home of the Ark of the Covenant. Our tour continues out of town for a walk up to see rock-carved-lion and the palace from where the Stella were hewn- some still lie there, half finished. Dinner on your own and Overnight Yeha Hotel.

Day 7 - Addis Ababa

We return by air late morning to Addis Ababa for a late lunch and enjoy the rest of the afternoon at leisure. Overnight at hotel.

Day 8 - Adadi Mariam – Take a day excursion to the Adadi Mariam for a visit of the Extraordinary Church, the semi rock hewn church which goes back to the time of the churches of Lalibela. On the way back, we visit the MELAKA KUNTIRE, the reserved place for early human achievement. We return to Addis around lunchtime and enjoy our afternoon at leisure. We meet in the lobby for our farewell dinner, where you will enjoy traditional Ethiopian musical performance. Overnight Hotel.

Day 9 - Nairobi, Kenya

Having a breakfast transfer to Airport for flight to Nairobi. After two hours in the Air, arrive Jomo Kenyatta International Airport.

Having cleared customs and immigration formalities you will be transferred to the Grand Regency Hotel. Check in and freshen up then proceed for a city tour. Our A&K representative will get in touch with clients in regard to safari briefing.

This is an orientation tour of Nairobi, one of Africa’s most modern and attractive capitals. Sightseeing in the immediate environs of Nairobi includes the 27-storey round tower, Kenyatta International Conference Center. Also included is a visit to the City Market with its colorful stalls selling fruits and vegetables, flowers and African curios and carvings. Your tour ends with a visit to the nearby Snake Park with its wide range of poisonous and non-poisonous snakes and other African reptiles.

Day 10 - Nyeri, Kenya - Meet up with your driver/guide after breakfast and then head north to the Aberdare Country Club arriving in time for lunch. Overnight at the Ark.

Day 11 - Aberdare, Kenya – After breakfast transfer to Aberdare Country Club to retrieve your luggage. Join your driver/drive and drive further north to Samburu Game Reserve (2 ½ hours), taking a game drive en route to Samburu Lodge arriving in time for lunch. Overnight at Samburu Lodge.

Day 12 - Samburu, Kenya - A full day to enjoy the wonderful wildlife of Samburu with morning and afternoon game viewing drives. Overnight at Samburu Lodge.

Day 13 - Masai Mara, Kanya - After breakfast at the lodge you will be transferred to the airstrip for your scheduled flight to Masai Mara 0915/1045 hrs.

You will be met at the airstrip by Kichwa Tembo representative and transferred to your camp. After lunch, enjoy an afternoon game viewing drive. Overnight at Kichwa Tembo Camp.

Day 14 - Masai Mara, Kenya - Full day to enjoy Kichwa Tembo and the Maasai Mara with morning and afternoon game drives.

There will also be the option to take a balloon safari or visit to Rusinga Island on Lake Victoria. Overnight at Kichwa Tembo Camp

Day 15 - Nairobi, Kenya - Breakfast at the camp. Transfer to the airstrip for your scheduled flight back to Nairobi departing at 1100 hrs. On arrival, you will be transferred back to your hotel for lunch. The day is at your Leisure and in the afternoon transfer to Kenya International Airport for your flight to USA via Addis Ababa.

Nationals of the following countries can secure visa on arrival. The charge is USD 20.00. It will take about ten minutes on average to secure the visa on arrival. The list includes Argentina, Australia, Austria, Belgium, Brazil, Canada, China, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hong Kong, Ireland, Israel, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Kuwait, Luxemburg, Mexico, Netherlands, New Zealand, Norway, Poland, Portugal, Russian Federation, South Africa, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, United Kingdom, and United States.

Nationals of countries not listed above must acquire a visa from their country of origin at the Ethiopian Embassy or diplomatic mission to avoid delay of entry or deportation.

Domestic Flights

All domestic flights are operated by Ethiopian Airlines with Bombardier-Q400 and Fokker-50 aircraft.

Flights are scheduled daily to the following destinations: Bahar Dar, Gondar, Lalibela, Axum and Addis Ababa.
