The Ethiopian Aviation Academy honors 48 technician graduates after 11 months of extensive training in airframe maintenance. Ato Kinfe Kahasaye Executive Vice President Strategic Business Unit handed over diplomas to the graduates at a ceremony held at ET’s headquarters on May 14, 2009.

During their stay at the training center, the graduates have gone through rigorous theoretical and practical training in order to qualify as full fledged aviation technicians. Ato Asfaw Bekele, Acting Manager Aviation Maintenance Technician School said, “This graduation event underscores the unreserved commitment and effort of Ethiopian Airlines and the staff of the Aviation Academy to meet the needs and demands of primarily our airline and the aviation industry for trained and competent professional in the field of avionics, airframe and power plant.” Today’s graduates are the first batch of trainees in Airframe specialty.

These graduates will bring the total number of graduates in different fields from the training center to 2420 since its inception in February, 1967. Among the total number of graduates, 1643 are Ethiopian and 777 are foreign nationals from 48 different countries in Africa and the Middle East.

The Ethiopian Aviation Academy is committed to providing a supply of adequate and competent manpower for Ethiopian Airlines in particular, and the aviation industry for the region in general. In addition, the academy runs concurrent training and development programs covering pilots, cabin crew, technicians and conduits comprehensive courses in marketing and leadership management.
