Ethiopian offers a wide selection of payment options for customers to buy their ticket online. Here below is the list of payment options which are available to make payment easier for our esteemed customers:
Note on how it works:
Online customers have the option of buying their ticket by selecting pay at agency option. This option allows them to pay for their trip at a later date with any acceptable form of payment which includes cash, checks or credit cards by contacting the nearest Ethiopian Airlines office.
Passengers can make their booking online and make the payment within 24 hours after making the booking. This option allows them to make their booking now and get time to make schedule change without making the payment within the 24-hour mark.
In addition to the above payment options Ethiopian accept the following payment methods; -
Passengers traveling from different African countries can make payment by using their mobile phone. Customers opting to pay in their mobile account can select mobile payment option from the payment page and after confirming payment via SMS and email. Ethiopian will issue and send their ticket detail via Email within 6 hours after making booking.

MTN
MTN Mobile Money is a secure electronic service that enables MTN Mobile Money wallet holders to store funds, send and receive money, make payments and do a number of other transactions simply using their mobile phone. It's fast, simple, convenient and affordable. Ethiopian airlines passengers can use MTN to make their ticket payment from Uganda, Ivory Coast, Ghana, Zambia and Cameron
MPESA
M-Pesa (M for mobile, pesa is Swahili for money) is a mobile phone-based money transfer, financing and microfinancing service, launched in 2007 by Vodafone for Safaricom and Vodacom, the largest mobile network operators in Kenya and Tanzania. Ethiopian airlines passengers can use Mpesa to make their ticket payment from above listed countries.
Equitel
Equitel is a mobile payment option from Kenya. This option is supported by Cellulant.
Airtel
Airtel Money is a global telecommunications services company and its Mobile Commerce service allows customers to use their mobile number as an electronic wallet. This electronic wallet can be funded and used to make payments for air tickets. Ethiopian airlines passengers can use Airtel to make their ticket payment from Kenya, Tanzania, Uganda, and Ghana.
Vodafone
Vodafone's M-Pesa mobile money transfer allow users to make payment from their mobile wallet. Currently Ethiopian airlines passengers can use Vodafone to make their ticket payment from Ghana.
E-Dahab
eDahab is an electronic wallet used by many people in Somaliland/Somalia, it allows users to receive funds directly to their mobile phone which they can then spend at enabled outlets (again directly from their mobile phone) without having to physically
handle cash. Ethiopian airlines passengers can use eDahab to make their ticket payment from Somalia, UK and Norway.
Tigo
Tigo Pesa allows users to send and receive money between more mobile financial service providers than any other operator.
Tigo Cash is a mobile phone–based money transfer service offered with Tigo phones in eleven countries including Tanzania, Rwanda, and Ghana. Currently Ethiopian airlines passengers can use Tigo to make their ticket payment from
Ghana.
Vodacom Mpesa
Vodacom M-Pesa is a fast, safe and easy way to send and receive money. It is like having instant cash in hand and passengers don't even need a bank account. Vodacom M-Pesa lets you convert cash into mobile money by visiting any authorized Vodacom M-Pesa outlet. Once you have money in your M-Pesa account, you can send it to anyone, anywhere in the country. You are also able to buy Vodacom airtime for yourself and others. You are also able to buy electricity with Vodacom M-Pesa.
Ethiopian airlines passengers can use Airtel to make their ticket payment from Mozambique.
EcoCash
EcoCash is an innovative mobile payment solution for Econet customers. It allows you to perform simple financial transactions, like send money to loved ones, buy prepaid airtime or data for yourself or other Econet subscribers and pay for goods and services, all using your mobile phone. This Option is currently disabled from Zimbabwe.
TeleCash
telecash is a service offered by telecel Zimbabwe whereby mobile phone users deposit money (physical cash) through an agent, bank, or telecel shop into a telecash account. This money then becomes electronic money (e-money), which customers can then transfer electronically to other mobile phone users without visiting any bank. This Option is currently disabled from Zimbabwe.
Branch Payment
After making the booking online passengers will receive a payment reference code together with a booking reservation code. The payment reference code varies from one bank to the other. However, it contains a certain alpha or numerical digits and is used
to locate the right booking for the payment transferred. It is therefore very important that the passenger give this code correctly to the bank teller so that he/she can make the transfer to the right account. Once the passengers received the payment
reference code they can pay in cash at the respective bank branch.

AlBarak
AlBaraka branch payment option allow passengers from Sudan to make payment to any nearby AlBaraka branch for the booking they made online. The payment must be finalized within 6 hours after the booking was made. Passenger should give the booking reference
and the ticket value to the tellers to make the payment.
Ecobank
Ecobank branch payment option allow passengers to make payment to any nearby Ecobank branch for the booking they made online. The payment must be finalized within 6 hours after the booking was made. Passenger should give the booking reference and the
payment reference to the tellers to make the payment.
Ecobank Branch payment option is available from Togo, Cameron, Malawi, Congo DRC, Congo Republic, Zimbabwe, Burundi, South Sudan, Rwanda, Chad, Ivory Coast, Benin, Mali, Guinea, Senegal, Gabon, Niger and Burkina Faso.
Rapid Transfer
Rapid transfer is an online bank transfer payment option. Rapid Transfer is a payment option that passengers can use to deposit money into their Skrill wallet or pay online. Supported by over 170 banks, Rapid Transfer is a fast, secure and convenient way to pay.
This payment Option is now activated from Sweden, Norway, Belgium, France, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Germany, UK, Spain and Austria.
Locally issued cards can be used for making payment for air ticket on www.ethiopianairlines.com. Customers opting to pay in local debit cards can make their booking online on ET website and insert their local card detail on credit card and debit card option on the payment page. Ethiopian will issue ticket and send the ticket detail via Email immediately after making the booking.

Hiper Card
Hipercard is a Brazilian card scheme that's widely accepted in the retail market. Hipercards are issued by Itaú bank and allow passengers to make payment in installments. Hipercard is one of the popular credit card used for online purchase in Brazil. Ethiopian airlines accept Installment payment from Brazil through Hiper card.
Elo Card
Elo is one of the major domestic debit and credit card brands of Brazil. The scheme can support credit and prepaid transactions. Elo is a pure domestic card brand in Brazil and only allows for transactions in Brazilian Real currency.
The Elo credit card supports installment that allows the passenger to spread their payments for online purchases over a certain period of time. Ethiopian airlines accept Installment payment from Brazil through Elo card.
Verve
Verve International is a Nigerian card brand owned by Interswitch Group. Verve is a debit card brand in Nigeria. Ethiopian Passengers can make payment by using Verve card from Nigeria.
China Union Pay
Union Pay is the national bankcard association in China and is thought to be the fastest growing card scheme in the world.

For customers having a valid union pay card, they can make payment on a dedicated Ethiopian page on union pay website.
K-Net
KNET provides a hosted payment process, i.e, the customers are redirected to KNET payment gateway after they make their booking and choose KNET as the payment method. The passengers has to enter the card details, confirm them and complete the payment process on the web page hosted by KNET payment gateway.
Electronic wallet is an electronic, internet based payment system which stores financial as well as personal identity related information. Such electronic payment system enables passengers to pay online for their ticket.
E-Wallet allows passengers to combine different payment options to pay.

PayPal
PayPal is a secure, quick and easy form of online payment that provides the security and convenience of paying with your bank or credit/debit card without entering your account number. For customers having PayPal account, they can make payment on a dedicated
Ethiopian page on PayPal website and confirm the payment of your ticket. Ethiopian will issue their ticket once payment confirmation is received.
Alipay
Alipay is a popular payment method that passengers based in China use to make payments online from their Alipay eWallet.
With over one billion users, Alipay handles more than half of China's payments and transformed a cash market into a card-trusting market with their eWallet.
Built by internet shopping giant Alibaba to make it easier for their shoppers to buy and sell on their trading site, Alipay is now so popular that passengers prefer to pay by mobile device in stores and online. Ethiopian airlines activated Alipay payment option on its mobile application. Currently this option is not available on ET website.
WeChat Pay is an e-Wallet payment method, incorporated into the WeChat app. It is one of the most popular payment methods in China, with over 600 million active users. Ethiopian airlines activated WeChat pay payment option on its mobile application specifically
on android mobile can make payment by using WeChat. Currently the option is not available on IOS and on ET website.
PAGA
Paga Wallet is a Nigerian e-Wallet service that passengers can use to make payments online. The e-Wallet can be topped up with cash at any outlet in the Paga agent network. This payment method is therefore suitable for accepting payments from passengers who do not have a bank account or payment card.
1. On the payment page, the shopper selects the Paga Wallet payment method.
The passenger is redirected to the Paga website.
2. The passenger’s logs on to the Paga website and confirms the payment.
Skrill
Skrill makes it easy for consumers to pay quickly with just an email address and password. It is a digital wallet that supports a wide variety of currencies and allows passengers to send and receive money online.
This payment Option is now activated from Sweden, Norway, Belgium, France, Denmark, Ireland, Italy, Germany, UK, Spain, Austria, Egypt, Saudi Arabia, Kuwait, Oman and UAE.
You can pay by credit card when booking a ticket at ethiopianaitrlines.com. We accept VISA, Master card, Dinners club and American Express. Depending on the country in which the booking is made, you may also have the option to pay using china union pay, JCB (Japan Credit Bureau) or UATP card.
