Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services Expands Its African Network with Casablanca as the 35th Freighter Destination

As of January 9, 2024, Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services, the largest air cargo network operator in Africa, has initiated a freighter service to Casablanca, Morocco, expanding its reach to 35 freighter destinations within the continent. Mr. Mesfin Tasew, the CEO of Ethiopian Airlines Group, expressed enthusiasm about the launch, stating, "We are thrilled to announce the commencement of freighter services to Casablanca, Morocco. This marks our inaugural foray into the Maghreb region, enhancing our global freighter network. With a total of 35 African freighter destinations, we reinforce our commitment to providing reliable and efficient services. As Africa's largest cargo network operator and a significant global air cargo service provider, Ethiopian Airlines remains dedicated to expanding its services globally, opening new routes to facilitate international trade and the movement of goods. Our freighter service to Casablanca utilizes the modern Boeing 777-200F cargo aircraft, boasting a payload capacity exceeding 100 tons." Ethiopian Cargo and Logistics Services, a key strategic business unit within the Ethiopian Airlines Group, presently serves over 135 international destinations worldwide. It operates both belly-hold capacity and 68 dedicated freighter services with a fleet of more than 145 airplanes, including 17 dedicated freighter aircraft. Connecting five continents, the airline plays a vital role as a facilitator of business and investment. The company operates a state-of-the-art modern warehouse with a storage capacity of 1.15 million tons. Additionally, it recently completed the construction of an ultramodern e-commerce warehouse with a 150,000-ton capacity, specifically designed for mail, couriers, and e-commerce goods. Equipped with advanced transfer vehicles, sorting machines, and cutting-edge technology systems, these facilities provide a temperature-controlled environment for various shipments, including dry, perishable, and pharmaceutical goods. Ethiopian Cargo & Logistics Services has received numerous accolades, with 2023 being a particularly distinguished year. The awards include Best Cargo Airline-Africa for five consecutive years and Cargo Airline of the Year for two consecutive years at the Air Cargo News Awards 2023. Furthermore, the company received the Sustainable Cargo Airline of the Year-Africa Award at the Freight Week Sustainability Awards 2023, African Cargo Airline of the Year, and Air Cargo Brand of the Year in Africa from STAT Trade Times Cargo Excellence Awards 2023, along with the Best Cargo Airline-Africa award at the Arabian Cargo Awards 2023.
