Travel Tips and Information

Plan your journey with confidence using these essential travel tips for Ethiopian Airlines passengers. From passport and visa rules to child travel documents and airport arrival guidance everything you need for a seamless experience. Travel prepared, stay informed, and enjoy every step of your adventure.

Passport, visa, and health requirements differ from country to country. To ensure smooth travel, passengers are advised to contact their travel agent or the nearest Ethiopian Airlines ticket office for the most accurate and up-to-date information regarding passport, visa, and health documentation for the countries they intend to visit.

Many countries also require travelers to show proof of return or onward travel and evidence of sufficient funds to cover their stay. For detailed and specific visa information, please contact the nearest consulate or embassy of the country you are traveling to.

For passengers flying with Ethiopian Airlines between Vienna and Copenhagen, please note that travelers who require a visa to enter Schengen countries must hold a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa. Passengers with a single-entry Schengen visa will not be allowed to travel on Ethiopian Airlines flights between Copenhagen and Vienna. This is due to the fact that the flight operates as a transit route for international travelers continuing beyond European destinations.

Similarly, passengers traveling between Oslo and Stockholm on Ethiopian Airlines must also have a valid multiple-entry Schengen visa if their nationality requires one for entry into Schengen countries. Single-entry Schengen visa holders are not permitted to travel on Ethiopian Airlines flights between Oslo and Stockholm, as the flight is classified as a transit flight carrying international passengers.

Additionally, a valid passport is mandatory for all passengers traveling with Ethiopian Airlines between Stockholm and Oslo, and between Vienna and Copenhagen, even if they hold a residence permit or citizenship of a Schengen country. This requirement applies in both directions on these routes.

If you are traveling with children, it is essential to carry a valid unabridged birth certificate, adoption certificate, or certificate of guardianship, depending on the specific situation. These documents are required to ensure a smooth travel experience and to avoid any last-minute complications at the airport or immigration checkpoints.

Please note that this requirement applies to all minors, whether they are biological children, adopted children, or children traveling under guardianship. Ensure all necessary documents are in order before your journey to prevent delays or denial of travel.

Customs regulations and procedures for travelers entering or exiting a country vary widely and are subject to frequent changes. To stay informed and avoid unexpected issues at borders, it is strongly recommended to consult your travel agent or contact the nearest Ethiopian Airlines ticket office for the latest customs requirements of the countries you plan to visit.

Please ensure that you carry your government-issued photo identification (ID) card with you at all times during your journey. This ID may be required at various points, including check-in, security screening, and boarding.

If you are traveling with children, you may also be asked to present proof of the child’s age, such as a birth certificate, at the airport. Having these documents readily available will help avoid any travel delays or issues during the boarding process.

Many countries enforce strict restrictions on the import and export of agricultural products such as plants, seeds, fruits, vegetables, and animal products. To avoid fines, delays, or confiscation of goods, please check the latest regulations before you travel. You are advised to contact your travel agent or the nearest Ethiopian Airlines ticket office for up-to-date information on the agricultural import/export restrictions of your destination.

To ensure a smooth and stress-free travel experience, passengers are encouraged to arrive at the airport well in advance. Please allow ample time for check-in, security screening, and boarding procedures.

Due to potential delays at security checkpoints, especially during peak hours, we strongly recommend arriving at least 3 hours before your scheduled departure time. Early arrival helps avoid unnecessary stress and ensures you have enough time to complete all pre-flight formalities comfortably.

To make your journey more enjoyable and reduce in-flight discomfort, consider the following travel tips:

  • Travel light to avoid unnecessary strain during your trip.

  • Wear loose, comfortable clothing and elasticated stockings made from natural fibers to promote circulation.

  • Stay hydrated by increasing your regular water intake. If you choose to consume alcohol, do so in moderation.

  • Use moisturizing cream to prevent your skin from becoming dry in the cabin environment.

  • Remove your shoes during the flight or wear footwear that accommodates swollen feet or ankles.

  • Avoid eating heavy meals during the flight to aid digestion and comfort.

  • Take short walks every two hours to encourage healthy blood circulation.

  • When waiting in the aisle, try to stretch your hamstrings by touching your toes.

  • Upon arrival, a hot shower or relaxing bath can help refresh your body and mind.

  • To boost circulation after landing, try a quick jog, brisk walk, or even a vigorous scrub to energize yourself and combat travel fatigue.
