Procedure of Acceptance of Pregnant Woman
- Normal pregnancy cases are acceptable through the 28 weeks on domestic and international flights. However, the passenger should be able to furnish a physically fit for transportation, certificate form. Pregnancy Certificate (Form PS-05-29A) shall be filled in three copies.
The form can be downloaded by just clicking Pregnancy Certificate or from the nearest Ethiopian ticket office.
- Medical clearance (MEDIF) is required after 28 weeks. Travel is permitted through the 36 weeks for domestic & short flights with flight time not more than 2 hours and 34 weeks for international flights.
Moreover, Medical clearance is required if from such information it appears that confinement may be expected in less than four (4) weeks; or there is uncertainty of progress of pregnancy or time of confinement, or that there were previous multiple births, or that complications in delivery may be expected.
Such certificate should be issued within seven (7) days of commencement of travel.
However, boarding will be denied if physical signs of labor are present.
