Putting miles in the bank

Earning miles couldn’t be easier. You need only fly ETHIOPIAN to start accruing miles in your ShebaMiles Frequent Flyer account. Each time you fly, simply quote your membership number when making reservations, and present your membership card at the check-in counter. The miles you travel will then be automatically credited to your ShebaMiles account. As a ShebaMiles member, you earn two types of Miles; Status Miles and Bonus Miles.

Status Miles:

When you fly you earn Status Miles. Status Miles represent the number of miles you fly on ETHIOPIAN.

EXAMPLE :When you make a direct flight, Economy Class, Addis Ababa -Johannesburg, there may be one brief stop enroute, but this is calculated as a one sector flight and you will be credited with 2,533 Status Miles one way or 5,066 Status Miles round-trip. In your ticket, each sector is shown on a separate coupon, so it is easy to determine the sectors flown and the Status Miles you have earned. Status Miles will not be awarded for non-paid tickets such as in V,Z,N and R Classes.

Bonus Miles :

Bonus Miles are special member awards designed to reward frequent flyers as generously as possible. Each time that you earn Bonus Miles, they are added to your Status Miles to become part of your Award Mile balance. Here are some examples of the Bonus Miles you can earn.

Enrollment Bonus Miles

1,000 Bonus Miles are awarded to every new member...just to thank you for flying ETHIOPIAN.

Cloud Nine Class Bonus Miles

When you travel Cloud nine Class, you enjoy a class of service tailored to suit frequent business travelers. You also have the added comfort of earning double miles every time you fly.

EXAMPLE :The number of Status Miles awarded for a round-trip Economy Class flight, Addis Ababa -Rome, is 5,582 Status Miles. But if you make the same trip in Cloud Nine Class you will earn double miles, or an additional 5,582 Bonus Miles. Add that to your Status Miles and you have earned a total of 11,164 Award Miles.

Promotion Bonus Miles

Special promotions will be announced on a regular basis, these will include route promotions. Should you fly on one of the special promotional routes, you will earn Bonus Miles over and above the usual number of Status Miles. Award Miles :

Status Miles + Bonus Miles = Award Miles

As a ShebaMiles member, you earn two types of miles, Status Miles and Bonus Miles. Both are added together to become Award Miles that are redeemable for award travel and upgrades.

Miles Validity

Miles expire 3 calendar years after the year in which they were earned, and Miles due to expire will be advised to you in good time.
