Established in 1964, Ethiopian Pilot Training School has specialized in airline pilot training for nearly forty years, meeting the growing demand for highly qualified commercial pilots.
The school has constructed the ideal program to prepare students for a lifelong career. It aims to deliver mature and capable young pilots with a sound understanding of an airline as well as aircraft operations.
Ethiopian pilot training school is open to external customers.
OBJECTIVES
- To train students to qualify as First Officers on airline or as commanders on general aviation.
- To develop trainee’s mind and personality by means of selected discipline to the demands of the airline industry.
- To prepare students for the ET-CAA commercial, instrument and multi-engine rating.
ACCREDITATION
The school is approved and accredited by:
- Ethiopian Civil Aviation Authority,
- African Civil Aviation Commission (AFCAC),
- African Airlines Association (AFRAA) and
- International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO)
COURSES OFFERED
- Private Pilot License (PPL)
Pre-requisite : High school completion
Duration: 36 weeks Flight training : 58 hours (45 dual + 13 in-command) Ground class: 581 hours.
- Commercial Pilot License (CPL)
Pre-requisite : PPL
Duration: 18 weeks Flight training : 122 hours (45 dual + 77 in-command) Ground class: 278 hours.
- Instrument and Multi-Engine Rating (IR/ME)
Pre-requisite : CPL
Duration: 24 weeks Flight training : 70 hours (50 dual + 20 in-command) Ground class: 137 hours.
- Flight Instructor Rating
Pre-requisites :
CPL / ATPL with Catagory & Class Rating,
1000 flying hours with minimum 100 hours in-command and
Instructor Development Program
Human factors
Valid Instrument Rating.
Duration: 8 weeks
ELIGIBILITY
- Applicants should be high school graguates or should have equivalent educational background with good grades in English, Mathematics and Physics.
- Applicants must pass category I medical examination by aviation medical examiner.
- Applicants should have a good knowledge of both spoken and written English. For non-English speakers, a four to six months English language course is offered.
