I. General Guidelines
Ethiopian Airlines always pleased to provide convenient and comfortable service to all our passengers who requires special individual assistance. The following information is provided to help customers who might be travelling for medical treatment (MEDA).
If MEDA travel itinerary includes airlines other than Ethiopian, please check directly with that airline as different policies and procedures may apply.

Ethiopian recommends that all passengers who requires special individual assistance make their reservations and reconfirmations at least 72 hours prior to their travel date and arrive for check-in within the published processing time of the originating airport.
III. Handling Procedure
1. Passengers who travel for medical treatment abroad (medical case passengers) may be accepted for travel provided that the attending physician approves their fitness for air travel.
2. For such approval the Medical Information form (MEDIF) shall be used.
3. MEDIF contains specific medical data of the passenger and special arrangements recommended by the passenger’s physician.
4. The MEDIF form is available at all Ethiopian ticket offices.
5. MEDIF must be approved by the Ethiopian medical unit or designated physician.
6. However, boarding will be denied if it is determined that passenger is not fit for air travel even when advance arrangement has been made.
7. Escorts is mandatory for medical case passengers.
8. Ethiopian will assist in availing wheelchairs or stretchers upon the specific request of the passenger or the escort.
9. Other special services, such as oxygen etc, will be provided upon request and at extra charge.
IV. Equipment and Support
1. Ethiopian can provide any of the following equipments or service if requested:
- Wheelchairs
- Oxygen
- Stretchers
- Lifting services
- Devices for supporting limbs, etc
2. Passengers Requiring Oxygen

Ethiopian will provide oxygen service for passengers who requires it onboard flight at Extra charge

48 hour prior arrangement has to be made

Passengers requiring in-flight oxygen must be in possession of doctor’s statement that reveals the need of oxygen

ET doesn’t allow passengers to board with their oxygen supply
3. Availability of equipment may be limited at certain airports. Please enquire your travel agent or the nearest Ethiopian ticket office.
