Ethiopian Airlines and ADAT Sign a 7-year ICS agreement - 12 June, 2012

Abu Dhabi Aircraft Technologies (ADAT) – the Middle East’s largest independent maintenance, repair and overhaul (MRO) services provider and part of the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network – has been awarded a seven year contract to provide Integrated Component Solutions (ICS) to Ethiopian Airlines’ growing fleet of Boeing 737NG aircraft.

The agreement covers a total of 19 aircraft – eleven in Ethiopian Airlines’ existing fleet of B737NG plus eight new aircraft on order – providing repair cycle management and pool access coverage. This will be supported by the combined Integrated Component Solutions (ICS) capabilities and experience of both ADAT and SR Technics.

James Stewart, Group CEO of the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network said: “We are very pleased that Ethiopian Airlines has placed its trust in ADAT to support its 737NG fleet for the next seven years. It is an endorsement not only of our quality record with component support in Abu Dhabi but also of the benefits that the Mubadala Aerospace MRO network offers its customers across the globe. ADAT’s dedication to its customers and investments in state-of-the-art facilities continue to make us the region’s MRO of choice, offering market leading maintenance solutions which help reduce our customers’ costs.”

Tewolde GebreMariam, CEO of Ethiopian Airlines, said: "Ethiopian airlines and ADAT are planning to expand their cooperation in the MRO business to leverage on their synergetic resources. This contract is only one area of the wider cooperation in the making. Of course, the contract will enable Ethiopian MRO to improve its dispatch reliability, reduce maintenance cost and enhance its supply chain management effectiveness and efficiency.”

Mr. Stewart continued: “This agreement represents a major breakthrough into the growing African market, which will be important for the industry over the next decade with many operators already beginning to modernize their fleets. Our global network now gives us the reach, capabilities and flexibility to be able to offer our integrated services to this market.”

A member of the Star Alliance, Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest growing Airline in Africa currently has a fleet of 45 aircraft serving 67 international and 17 domestic destinations across Africa, the Middle East, Asia and North America, with a further 41 aircraft on order.
