Ethiopian Graduates Aviation Technicians from Six African Countries - 29 April, 2010

On April 29, 2010, Ethiopian Airlines Aviation Academy graduated 47 aviation technicians from six African countries promoting African partnership and African solidarity. The graduates are nationals of Sudan, Mozambique, Liberia, Tanzania, Chad and Ethiopia. Among the graduates 18 are Sudanese On-job trainees who have undergone 15 months practical training at Maintenance Technicians School and Maintenance and Engine workshops.

H.E Mr. Arop Deng Kuol, the head of Government of Southern Sudan Mission and Ato Tewolde G. Mariam, Chief Operating Officer of the airline awarded diplomas and awards to the graduates at the event held at Ethiopian headquarters.

The latest batch of graduates is special as the group consists of multinational group of trainees following 30 Rwandese trainees who graduated of the same type of training in 2007. At present, 63 trainees from Tanzania, Sudan, Chad, Liberia, Namibia, Mozambique and D. R. Congo are under training at the academy.

The Ethiopian Aviation Academy is a multinational training center that consists of Pilot Training School, Aviation Maintenance School, and School of Marketing, and School for the Cabin Crew. The Aviation Maintenance Technicians School was established in 1967 and has graduated a total of 2613 out of which 808 were trainees coming from Africa and the Middle Eastern countries.

Ethiopian was the winner of the ‘2008 Best Airline in Africa Award’ at the African Travel Award ceremony.
