Ethiopian Dreamliner Continues Serving Rotating African Destinations - 23 August, 2012

Ethiopian Airlines is pleased to announce that its first Dreamliner, "Africa First", continuing its flight to rotating African destinations, has flown to Mombasa and Kilimanjaro on August 19th; to Harare and Lusaka on August 20th; and to Nairobi and Entebbe on August 21st.

Ethiopian: 2nd Star Alliance Member to Operate the Dreamliner - 22 August, 2012

Ethiopian Airlines becomes the second Star Alliance member, next to All Nippon Airlines, to fly the B787 Dreamliner.

Ethiopian Airlines took delivery of its Dreamliner in Seattle on August 14, 2012 and became the first airline outside of Japan to operate this game changing Aircraft. Ethiopian Dreamliner, named "Africa First", touched down on the African soil landing at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport on August 17, 2012.

Ethiopian Airlines 1st Dreamliner touched down at Addis Ababa Bole International Airport on 17 August 2012 at 9:30 Am. The Dreamliner had flown from Washington DC, Dulles international Airport, after a static display for VIPs including members of US Congress, World Bank and IMF Executives, Ambassadors, as well as members of the Ethiopian Diaspora and media.

Ethiopian Acquisition of Ten Boeing B787s Principally Financed by J.P. Morgan - 16 August, 2012

Addis Ababa, Ethiopia, August 16, 2012 – Ethiopian Airlines, the fastest growing airline in Africa, has secured $1 billion of financing from J.P. Morgan for its 10 Boeing B787-8- Dreamliners. The Export-Import Bank (Ex-Im Bank) of the United States has provided export credit agency support via guaranteed loans that cover 85% of the total cost of the aircraft. The balance will be financed by a group of financial institutions including ING Capital, the Emerging Africa Infrastructure Fund (EAIF), The Netherlands Development Finance Company (FMO), the ICF Debt Pool LLP (ICF), and from internal cash resources of Ethiopian.

Ethiopian Takes Delivery of 1st Dreamliner - 14 August, 2012

Ethiopian Airlines today took delivery of its 1st Boeing 787-800 Dreamliner dubbed "Africa First". The airline is the 1st in the world outside Japan and ahead of any airline in the Americas, Europe and the Middle East to operate the Dreamliner, the most technologically advanced commercial aircraft in the world. Ethiopian has placed a firm order of 10 Dreamliners and will be receiving 5 of them before December 2012.
